Greetings, I am Mira Lyn C. Dugso, a PEC student at Lucan Central College Inc., Pagadian City.
Lucan Central College Inc.
Introduction
My journey as a PEC student has been one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences in my educational life. It has been a journey filled with new learning experiences, challenges, discoveries, relationships, reflections, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. When I first started this journey, I knew that becoming a PEC student would require commitment, patience, determination, and an open mind. However, I also realized that the experience would provide me with opportunities to learn not only from lessons and activities but also from the people around me and from the experiences that I would encounter along the way.
Being a PEC student has allowed me to understand that education is more than simply attending classes, completing requirements, and receiving grades. Education is a continuous process of developing knowledge, skills, values, attitudes, and confidence. Every activity, discussion, presentation, group task, reflection, and assessment became part of my learning journey. Some experiences were easy, while others required more effort and perseverance. There were moments when I felt confident about what I was doing, but there were also moments when I questioned myself and wondered if I was doing enough. Despite these uncertainties, I continued moving forward.
Throughout my PEC journey, I encountered different learning experiences that challenged me to think critically and reflect on my own abilities. I learned that being a student requires responsibility. It is important to manage time properly, participate in activities, listen to others, complete tasks, and accept constructive feedback. I also learned that asking questions is not a sign of weakness. Instead, asking questions can be an important part of learning because it allows me to clarify ideas, correct misunderstandings, and improve my knowledge.Â

One of the important aspects of my journey was learning how to work with other people. Group activities taught me the value of cooperation, communication, patience, and respect. Every person has different ideas, experiences, abilities, and ways of understanding things. Working with others taught me that I do not always have to insist on my own ideas. Sometimes, listening carefully to another person's perspective can help me understand a problem in a different way. Collaboration also taught me that achieving a common goal requires everyone to contribute.
My experiences as a PEC student also helped me become more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I discovered that I have strengths that I can continue developing, but I also have areas that need improvement. Instead of seeing weaknesses as reasons to give up, I learned to see them as opportunities for growth. Every mistake can become a lesson when I take time to understand what happened and determine how I can do better next time.
There were times when academic requirements became challenging. Managing different activities, responsibilities, deadlines, and personal commitments was not always easy. Sometimes I felt tired or overwhelmed. However, these experiences helped me develop perseverance. I learned that progress does not always happen quickly. Sometimes progress means simply continuing even when things are difficult.
My PEC journey also allowed me to appreciate the importance of reflection. Reflection gives me an opportunity to look back at what I have experienced and understand the lessons behind those experiences. Instead of simply asking whether I completed a task, I learned to ask deeper questions: What did I learn? What did I do well? What could I improve? What challenges did I encounter? How did I respond to those challenges? What will I do differently next time?
These questions helped me understand myself better as a learner. I realized that my journey is not defined only by successful experiences. Difficult experiences are also valuable because they teach important lessons. Sometimes, the experiences that challenge me the most are the experiences that help me grow the most.
Another important part of my journey was developing greater confidence. At the beginning,
there were situations when I was hesitant to express my thoughts because I was afraid that my answer might be incorrect. As time passed, I learned that making mistakes is a normal part of learning. I became more willing to participate, share ideas, communicate with others, and accept feedback.
My journey as a PEC student has therefore become a journey of transformation. I am not exactly the same person I was when I started. I have gained knowledge, but more importantly, I have gained experiences that shaped my attitude toward learning. I have become more reflective, responsible, patient, and determined.
